Favre and Peterson Do Not Team Up For Vikings Win. That Would Imply Favre Was Involved!

Vikings Browns Football

There were many headlines that pissed me off this morning: “Stokley quiets fans, coaches” for a play that was pure luck and “Delhomme to remain Pathers’ QB” after 9 picks in his last two games… WHY? But the worst by far was “Favre, Peterson Team Up for Vikings Win”. Really!?! When has 110 yards (5.2 per attempt), 4 sacks, and 1 touchdown from a team’s starting quarterback ever been the reason a team won? If anything the Vikings won despite a completely sub-par performance from Brett Favre thanks to the unworldly performance from creature they call Adrian Peterson.

The fact that Brett Favre is getting any credit for this win is baffling. The fact that more people are talking about him than Adrian Peterson, who’s line was 25-180-3-7.2, is just unbelievably retarded. Adrian Peterson, with help from one of the better offensive lines in the game, is the backbone of the Vikings team. His ability to flat out dominate any run defense in the league allows their defense, led by two fatties in the middle who get tired quickly, the rest they need to be a top tier unit and allows their quarterback, Brett Favre, to be a game manager.

I don’t understand the facination with Brett Favre! What has he done in the last 4 years to deserve the sort of positive attention that he gets? The man has retired twice, is on his third team in 3 years, led the league in interceptions last season, crumbled under the pressure of a playoff run, and has been an all-round douche at every available moment. Yet still writers are finding every possible way to spin a positive light on Brett because he is among the most marketable assests that the NFL has to offer. And god help the columnist who crosses Roger Goodell and his boys in the big office.

It really is a shame that a majority of the respectable writers in the business are still slobbing on Favre’s knob like Monica in an oval office, despite any understandable reason to support him. At this point I’m just woefully anticipating a Favre performace of 15-34, 185 yards, 1 TD, 3 INT and a win despite it all. Because some idiot will reason that Favre’s willingness to make the tough throws despite 3 early interceptions and an ability to overcome his poor performance and the will to continue battling it out at his advanced age won the Vikings the game. That day will be the death of sports writing integrity.
