Wade Boggs Making Headlines!

The man behind the legend and the inspiration for the name of our blog, Wade Boggs, has been making headlines recently. Boggs has been in the headlines for years: first with his rise to prominence in 1982 after winning the rookie of the year award, then his incredible 1985 season when he batted .368, followed by his well documented switch from the Red Sox to the Yankees, and finally with the celebration of his 3,000th hit to join a sacred group of players. Even after Boggs retired in 1999, after two seasons with the TB Rays, Boggs was still making headlines with stories of his drinking habits when a teammate said in an interview that Boggs would drink 50-60 beer on cross country trips to Seattle or California.
However, in recent years Boggs has taken a step back from the lime light. Boggs is no longer a member of the Fox’s Baseball team and has refrained from interviews, that was until recently.
This past week Boggs popped up twice, first in a athlete appearence where he discussed his opinion of the steroids era and then as a member of Rob Neyer’s all-time AL All Star team.
Boggs discussing the steroids era:
Congrats big guy! It’s always good to see our boy Wade getting some air time. Whether you agree with his opinion or not, Boggs is back baby and I’m lovin’ every minute of it!
