Brian Roberts scores the game winner in the 8th.

A daily article from KC Roberts discussing the games from the night before. Featuring a game of the night, 5 other games from each sport, and suggestions of what to watch today.

Game of the Night

Baltimore Orioles 11   Boston Red Sox 10

Importance: I HATE the Red Sox, so seeing them lose in such devastating fashion is a sight for sore eyes. Also it was pretty damn exciting

Player of the game: Oscar Salazar – Oscar only came into the game in the 7th as a pinch hitter for Melvin Mora. It didn’t matter, Salazar hit a three run home run in the 7th that sparked the Orioles comeback. Stat Line: 2 for 2, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 2 R

X Factor: When every other bullpen pitcher in the game decided to take the day off, George Sherrill showed up in the 9th and preserved the lead for his 17th RBI. Stat Line: 1 inning, 1 H, 2 SO, Save

Play of the game: In a game with a 10 run come back that’s pretty hard to come up with. Umm… well Nick Markakis singled in 2 with Papelbon on the mound, which is impressive on its own, but it also gave the Orioles the lead!

Turning Point: It all started with a Luke Scott double in the 7th that scored Huff. Humble beginnings for such an amazing comeback.

MLB:

Braves 5   Phillies 4

Importance: The Braves win a tight one against divisional rivals Phillies. Now only 4 back and now 4 teams are within 4 games in the NL East!

Player of the Game: Martin Prado – 4 for 5, 1 2B, 1 HR, 1 SB, 4 RBI, 1 R

How it ended: Who else but Prado singled in the 10th for a walk off hit.

Pirates 3   Cubs 0

Importance: The smartest man in baseball, Ohlendorf, pitches a gem.

Player of the Game: Ross Ohlendorf – 7 innings, 4 H, 8 SO, Win

Where it all went wrong: Cubs pitcher Ted Lilly decided not to cover home plate when Sanchez went home after a wild pitch, that would be the first and deciding run.

Diamondbacks 6   Reds 2

Importance: D-Backs end 5 game slid and an unexpected bat sparks Arizona.

Player of the Game: Dan Haren – 7 innings, 4 H, 1 BB, 9 SO, 1 ER, Win (2 for 2, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 R)

Play of the Game: Any time a pitcher hits a home run it is something worth watching.

Rays 4   Jays 1

Importance: Rays win 7th straight and Jays lose 4th straight forcing yours truely into a deep depression.

Player of the Game: Matt Garza – 7 inning, 7 H, 3 BB, 3 SO, 1 ER, Win

#$*()$#*#)$: No comment.

Giants 6   Cardinals 3

Importance: The Cardinals continue to suck ass despite Pujols’ best efforts to put the city of St. Louis on his shoulders.

Player of the Game: Umm.. Pujols! – 2 for 3, 2 HR, 1 BB, 3 RBI, 2 R

Turning Point: 4 runs in the 5th inning for the Giants doomed the Cards.

Tennis:

- Suprise! Seeds 1-4 on the womens side advance to the semi finals. I repeat my sentiments from yesterday: female professional tennis is extremely unimpressive and should not even be televised.

- People played doubles matches, no one watched.

What to watch today:

Wimbledon Mens Quarterfinals @ All day

Jays/Rays @ 1:07 pm

Rockies/Dodgers @ 3:10 pm

Angels/Rangers @ 8:05 pm

Astros/Padres @10:05 pm
